With the 2024 election ending, and Donald Trump being announced as the winner of the 2024 election, there are many diverse reactions within the B-CC community. B-CC is filled with a variety of perspectives. Some B-CC seniors were even able to influence the election and cast their votes.
Harris-Walz supporters at B-CC shared why they supported the democratic nominees, and their reactions to the losses. Senior Lily Heintz wasn’t able to vote in this election but volunteered for the campaign, and had very strong opinions on the outcome. Heintz said, “I wanted Harris to win because she cares about basic human rights and freedom for everyone in our country.”
Senior Kai Gardella, who was also not old enough to vote, had similar views. Gardella said, “I would vote for Kamala because Trump is an idiot, he’s a rapist homophobic, and racist felon. He’s everything a president should not be.” Gardella, upset with the results of the election, also said that it has affected where he sees himself spending the next four years. Gardella said, “All the colleges I applied to are red, and because of this I am considering applying to a blue state.” It was more than just the presidential election result that was disappointing for democrats. Gardella said, “I stayed up until 2 am hoping for the blue shift, the second I woke up I got a text from a friend saying ‘he won’. I soon realized we lost the Senate and are about to lose the House, not to mention that the Supreme Court is mostly trump supporters. So Trump can now be a dictator.”
B-CC junior Sofia Guyer is a lifelong Democrat who also supported Kamala Harris. Guyer said, “I’m so horrified and scared. He’s made a lot of promises of what he would do once in office which would directly affect me and others in this country negatively, that would lead the country in such a negative direction.” But Guyer remains hopeful. “We have to do our best to advocate for our beliefs, and not feel hopeless in times like these,” Guyer said. “We must stay and fight and try to make a better country for all Americans. It’s a melting pot, for diversity, and we have the capability to be so great.”
When the printed version of The Tattler was produced, we were unable to find a Trump supporter willing to share their views on the record. However, since publication, Junior Adam Kessler offered his opinion. Kessler shared, “I like Trump because of what he does with the market and different foreign affairs.”
