Starting on Nov. 6, all B-CC students will be required to wear lanyards attached to their school IDs while on school grounds, according to a recent announcement by Dr. Mooney. MCPS initiated this policy, among others, to improve safety across its schools.
Dr. Mooney said, “A big push in MCPS over the past few years has been to increase the focus on safety. In fact, the superintendent made that one of his big focuses that he decided to announce for this year. As a part of that, we’re trying to make sure that every student that’s at B-CC is a person that should be at B-CC.”
Sophomore Summer Blumenthal said, “I don’t like [lanyards], I think it’s gonna look super weird.” However, some disagree. Junior Bruno Zielinksi said, “[Wearing lanyards] will be annoying but it may make me feel more safe knowing no one who isn’t meant to be is going to be at school.”
