On Friday, Sept. 20, B-CC Varsity Boys’ Soccer took on the Richard Montgomery Rockets who were coming off a 3-game winning streak. The energy was high and the Barons had their sights on victory. Lots of students showed up to the game dressed in their blackout theme to cheer on the Barons.
In the first half, the Rockets scored two unanswered goals. After regrouping at halftime, the Barons would fight hard for the rest of the game. As the end began to near, senior captain and striker Finn Dupin was able to put two goals in the back of the net during the last 10 minutes of the game. Now, with the score tied, the Barons had faith they could come out with a victory. The Rockets were awarded a penalty at the end of the game and would convert it, ending the game.
B-CC then headed to Churchill on Monday, Sept. 23. Motivated and determined to continue a successful season, the boys’ would play with aggression and fire. The first half would see a score from senior striker Aaron Mallon giving the Barons the lead. Despite the great start to the game, the Barons would concede three unanswered goals and lose the game.
“We have a tough group of guys that simply don’t believe in quitting. We all know that we’re going to face more adversity come playoff time and so having challenges along the stretch is super important,” Dupin said.
After another loss to Montgomery Blair on Wednesday, B-CC is looking to bounce back in a big rivalry game, at home against Walt Whitman on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
