In their home opener against Albert Einstein High School on Monday, Sept. 16, B-CC Varsity Field Hockey secured a dominant 5-0 win. Despite controlling most of the possession in the first quarter, the Barons only managed to score once, with freshman Adalia Wilcox finding the back of the net.
The Barons controlled the pace of the game, barely letting Einstein touch the ball. B-CC’s defense stayed strong, not allowing a single shot on goal during the entire first half.
The second half showcased B-CC’s offensive dominance. Goals from seniors Elisha Robinson, Roxana Stayeas, Roxy Thompson, and sophomore Juliet Kelliher, ultimately widened the gap, securing the win. As time went down, the Barons maintained control, and the final whistle blew with a 5-0 victory. “We were trying out a new [starting] lineup and everyone adjusted really well,” said sophomore captain Amelia Morton.
Following the game, the field hockey team celebrated the home opener win and six homecoming proposals, capping off a successful night Barons.
Looking ahead, B-CC will face two big matchups against Churchill at home on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and at Poolesville on Friday, Sept. 20 to finish the week.
