The Barons have made a statement at the start of their season. After a successful offseason, the boys took down Damascus, former 3A state champions, in their first conference game. The final score was 5-2.
Following the victory, the Barons entered the Cougar Dome looking for redemption after last year’s playoff loss. In a hard-fought battle, B-CC came out victorious in a 1-0 win against Quince Orchard. “This year we have changed our approach to be more aggressive on the offensive side so we can try and score more and put teams away,” said B-CC soccer head coach Guillermo Melendez.
The team executed well. In the defensive half, B-CC was able to shut down the Cougars, credit to their ability to communicate and play man-on-man defense. Offensively, ball management was top-tier and a score by Junior Noah Grossberg assisted by Senior Emmett Lanter sealed the game. The Barons are now 2-0.
Their next game is at home against Paint Branch on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
