After 23 years, the world remembers the tragedy of 9/11. On September 11, 2001, an attack claimed the lives of 2,997 people, and its impact was felt across the globe. Today, the lives lost and the grief felt throughout the nation and world are remembered. While students at B-CC were not yet alive at the time, the impact of the attacks is still profoundly important to many. Junior Noah Keeley shared, “It truly saddens me thinking about what happened that day, the loss of life and humanity. My family and I have a tradition that we go out and try to do something good like packing food for the homeless.”
While students weren’t alive to experience this tragedy firsthand, several teachers at B-CC were. Social studies teacher Mr. Gilmore talked about his plan to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary, sharing, “I’m going to the Nationals game, and there will be a moment of silence, and [I] will be thinking about it then.”
Students are invited to learn more about the historic tragedy by visiting the National September 11th Memorial & Museum website.
