On Monday May 13, B-CC administration received a report indicating that a student had a weapon on campus and fled the premises after being seen with it. The school collaborated with MCPS and the Montgomery County Police Department to investigate the incident.
Upon receiving the report, school and security officials worked swiftly to identify the student and assess the situation. This included determining appropriate safety measures for the remainder of the school day and coordinating with police on the timing of notifying the community to ensure it did not interfere with ongoing investigations.
To guarantee the safety of all students and staff, B-CC increased its security presence for the remainder of the day. Principal Shelton Mooney emphasized the school’s commitment to providing a secure environment and stated that threats against the school would not be tolerated. “The possession of weapons on school grounds is illegal, dangerous, and disruptive to school operations,” Principal Mooney remarked. He encouraged parents to discuss the seriousness of such behavior with their children, highlighting that it could lead to criminal prosecution.
While information on this incident is still very limited, additional measures were put into place to further ensure safety. Security and administrative teams continue to closely monitor student activities across the campus.
