The Barons went 2-1 this past week and are looking to close out the season strong as playoffs are right around the corner.
Last Friday, Girls Lacrosse traveled to Gaithersburg High School and stomped over their competition, easily winning by a score of 13-1. Junior McKenna Harper led the scoring, putting each of her three shots in the back of the net. Sophomore Grace Krupinski also had a multi-goal day, with two scoring shots. Junior Alyssa Wiener and Senior Gaby Puig led the team in assists with two apiece.
Following their strong victory over Gaithersburg, the team faced a stellar Sherwood squad who breezed past the Barons. The Sherwood Warriors seemed to score at will, with the final score at 10-1. Junior Jane Kolakowski scored the lone goal for the Barons. Senior Ella Morton worked hard in goal, saving 16 shots despite their loss. After the game, Harper commented, “Overall the game was a hard fight defensively, and I think we can learn a lot from playing against good competition to get us ready for playoffs.”
The team bounced back strong last night, and at home under the lights they thumped Northwest High School, beating them 13-2. Freshman Juliette Kelliher and Harper lead the team in scoring, with three goals each. Puig also had a multi-goal day, scoring two of her own in the win. Sophomore Maddie McManus played well, leading the team in assists, controls drawn, and loose balls controlled.
Looking ahead, the Barons close out their season with Northwood High School on Monday and Thomas S. Wootton High School at home on Friday.
