Student performers took to the stage in The Prom on April 18-20.
The Prom followed four self-obsessed Broadway actors, who set out to help Emma, an Indiana teen, who became ostracized in her community after trying to bring her girlfriend to prom. The musical tackled themes of homophobia, performative activism, friendship, and love. Featuring colorful costumes and sets, tear-wrenching songs, and comical performances, The Prom captivated the audience and was a night to remember.
The cast and crew went through intense preparations to put on the performance. Junior Louise Brophy expressed, “The cast and crew showed up and gave it their all at every rehearsal, especially our late-night ones towards the end and had a positive attitude backstage, even though performing can sometimes be stressful.”
Senior Caroline Krekel, a member of the costume crew, added, “What stood out to me was how complicated this production was both on and off the stage. I was blown away by how everyone pulled it together in the end to stage an elaborate and meaningful production.”
Mr. Verga, director of the musical, expressed his appreciation for the effort his ensemble brought to the show. He said, “I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with for my first musical here at B-CC.”
