The boys’ varsity tennis team had matches on Friday, March 5, Monday, 8, Tuesday, 9 and Wednesday, 10 against Richard Montgomery, Walter Johnson, Rockville and Wootton respectively. B-CC lost to RM 6-1, lost to WJ 4-3, beat Rockville 7-0 and lost to Wootton 7-0.
Against RM, senior Mack Fisher and senior captain Elijah Hardwick defended 12 match points from RM and snuck out a round victory to avoid the shutout. This impressive duo has been a bright spot for the team throughout the season so far.
In the match against WJ, Hardwick won his singles match, Fisher and junior captain Jack Jablon won their doubles match and senior Jonah Peters and sophomore Miles Ullman won their doubles match.
Versus Rockville, the Barons dominated by shutting out the Rams. Everyone won their matches including Ullman, sophomore Zain Sadqi, senior Gus Fisher, and sophomore Issac Engel. David High did not let up a single game.
Wootton proved too much for the Barons to handle. Fisher and Jablon lost their doubles match 6-2, 7-5.
“The main thing we need to do is work on our consistency. We have the ability to stay in these matches and have been able to do it, but staying consistent and forcing our opponents to actually beat us instead of beating ourselves will hopefully result in better results,” senior Gus Fisher said.
The Barons look to bounce back with another week full of games, starting today, April 12th at home versus Northwest. Next week they take on Poolesville away on Monday, April 15 and they then continue their away trip at Quince Orchard on Wednesday, April 17.
