B-CC will screen the movie “Angst” on March 11, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the auditorium. A question and answer session with a mental health expert will follow the screening. The B-CC PTSA, Our Minds Matter Club, and The Mia Fontana Foundation have collaborated to make this event possible.
The movie “Angst” explores and raises awareness about teen anxiety. Beth Pruski, PTSA member, explained on the B-CC Listserv, “’Angst’ is a film-based education program, designed to raise awareness around anxiety, with an emphasis on youth and families. The film includes interviews with kids, teens, experts, and parents.”
Senior Ava Stevenson, an intern for the Mia Fontana Foundation, said, “I hope this movie helps the B-CC community destigmatize mental health issues, while also acknowledging how serious mental health issues are. I also hope that anybody who is struggling or knows someone who is struggling feels that they learned something from the documentary and Q&A.”
Elana Bilbao, a member of the Mental Health committee at B-CC, added, “This movie will help educate and inform [about] ways for students to deal with, not just anxiety, [but] all different types of mental health issues.”
