The Barons took on the challenge of a gruelling out-of-conference schedule this past week, winning two out of three games. On Tuesday, Jan. 30, the boys took a trip to Montgomery Blair High School to take on the Blazers and came out on top, gliding to victory by a score of 65-49. Bouncing back from their loss the previous day, they beat Blair convincingly and avoided consecutive losses for the first time this season. After their win against Montgomery Blair, their record stands at an impressive 11-4. Junior guard, Lucas Allen, said, “Our key to success this year has been our team’s chemistry and knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”
Their first challenge came when they hosted Quince Orchard High School on Friday, Jan. 26. Using home-court advantage to take the lead in the first quarter, they never looked back, winning by 12 with a final score of 62-50. The Barons dominated, beating Quince Orchard in team rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks as well.
Back at home against Paint Branch High School on Monday, Jan. 19, the boys fought hard but ultimately fell 60-52.
Looking ahead, Boys Basketball takes on their rivals, Walter Johnson High School, tonight, Friday, Jan. 2. Earlier this year, Barons beat Walter Johnson in a jam-packed home stadium 63-51. The Barons are on the road this time, facing off at 7:15 p.m.
