The spring musical, The Prom, is set to take place on April 18, 19, and 20. The musical follows four characters striving to support a lesbian student banned from bringing her girlfriend to the high school prom.
Mr. Verga, director, and B-CC Drama teacher, expressed, “The show touches on so many universal themes. I feel as if anyone who sits down to see the show will be able to connect with what’s happening on stage.”
Auditions for the production are currently underway and involve a rigorous process. Verga explained, “The first two days, every student participates in both a vocal audition, where they sing a song they’ve prepared, and a dance audition, where they show off their dance skills. […] [Then] at callbacks, we will delve into specific scenes, characters, and songs to better understand the range and dynamics each actor brings to the stage.”
The Prom has generated high anticipation for B-CC Drama students. Senior Isabelle Jones said, “I love the plot, and I think it has some really fun characters. I’m especially excited for the dance element because we have really talented student choreographers.”
Holly Kane, a senior apart of B-CC Drama, added, “I think we can really bring this show to life this year with the cast, crew, and pit we have.”
