The Barons Ice Hockey Team lost in a heated rivalry game against Winston Churchill High School last Friday, Dec. 8, at Rockville Ice Arena. Despite being tied early, Churchill jumped to a commanding lead, winning 6-1.
The Barons came out of the gate strong with an early unassisted goal scored by Senior Matthew Duffy. Churchill responded with a power play goal of their own to tie the game. The first period ended with B-CC and Churchill equal at one goal each.
Churchill kept the momentum of their last goal going by scoring two straight unanswered goals, the second of which scored on a power play. The second period ended with Churchill leading 3-1.
The Bulldogs scored three more goals in the third period to pull further away from the Barons. The first goal scored was short-handed against the Barons’ power play. The next goal they scored came on a powerplay of their own. When the final whistle blew, the game ended with Churchill winning by a final score of 6-1.
When asked about what B-CC needs to do differently in their next match, Senior Sebastian Harrison said, “We need to be more disciplined against Walter Johnson High School if we want to win and take advantage of the opportunities we get.”
The Barons look to bounce back this Friday, Dec. 15th in a rematch against Walter Johnson High School at Rockville Ice Arena.
