For many B-CC students, the first-ever digital PSAT on Wednesday, Oct. 11, got off to a slow start. Some testing classes experienced a delay of up to an hour and 30 minutes, while eight other schools in Montgomery County completely canceled testing for the day.
College Board Communications issued a statement that said, “The issue stemmed from a surge in traffic on the application used by schools to set up and run administrations, which caused some schools to delay or be unable to begin testing.”
B-CC testing coordinator Ms. Yener said, “Our staff and students remained patient, determined, and resilient and were able to test almost every student on the day of.”
Sophomore Henry Swann, one of the many students affected by testing delays, said, “The teacher didn’t really have a plan or know what was going on. Our class waited for over an hour.”
College Board commented, ” We deeply apologize for the late start to testing that many students experienced and especially to those who couldn’t test [on Oct. 11].”
Regardless of these issues, the College Board reported that over 1.2 million students completed the test.
Students who were unable to take the test will have the opportunity to make it up on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
