The B-CC Boys Soccer team was back in action over the past week and a half, with matches against Montgomery Blair, John F. Kennedy, and Albert Einstein.
On Oct. 18, the team hosted its Senior Night with a match against Einstein at home. Senior Santiago Javadpour scored the first goal, and Senior Sergio Gomez added to his goal tally, with an equalizing penalty with under a minute to go to save a draw for the Barons. Gomez shared, “It was an unforgettable feeling to come through and tie up the game with so little time left on Senior Night.”
Two days prior, on Oct. 14, the Barons defeated Kennedy with a score of 3-2. Seniors Masoom Mohammad, Nicky Acworth, and Jacobo Lopez-Fernandez provided the goals, with Senior Spencer Kesterman and Junior Austin Hamilton assisting. Junior goalie Max Quintina saved a penalty to help the Barons inch past the Cavaliers. Quintana said, “There’s no better feeling as a keeper than a pen save.”
On Oct. 12, the Barons faced off against Blair, and pulled off a narrow upset, with a final score of 1-0. Senior captain Theo Yonly scored the goal, with Gomez providing the assist. Heroic goalkeeping from Senior Noah Brown kept the clean sheet. Postgame, Yonly shared, “We had a great game; we proved we could go up against the best competition.”
B-CC will play their final regular season game away at Springbrook on Thursday, Oct. 19. Playoffs will begin next week, but B-CC’s first round opponent has not yet been decided.
