On Saturday, Oct. 7, B-CC Cross Country participated in the Maryland XC invitational presented by Saucony at Shawan Downs. The Barons had just come off a Girls’ win and a Boys’ loss on Oct. 2.
The team had yet another dominating performance, finishing first out of 16 schools with a score of 99. Juniors Ani Bailin and Sophie Harjes continue to place high, finishing 7th and 11th, respectively.
Out of 23 schools, boys XC placed 10th with a score of 271. Junior Caden Felten was the highest-placing B-CC runner, finishing 38th out of over 150 runners. Senior runner Hunter Whitten ran a 17:06 five-kilometer which placed him 40th. Senior runner Lucas Cheplo shared, “The Baron’s success stemmed from being able to push through the rough conditions of the course.”
Barons Cross Country will participate in their next meet on Oct. 21 for the Montgomery County-County Championship. During the two-week interim, B-CC will work hard to prepare for Counties.
