Following a dominant performance in the tri-meet last week against Northwest and Sherwood, B-CC Cross-Country traveled to Germantown on Saturday, Sept. 30. At Germantown, the Barons competed against other teams in the five-kilometer race.
The boys finished fourth out of 11 teams. Donavan Hicks was B-CC’s top finisher, placing 11th. Hicks crossed the finish line in 16:56 seconds. Senior runner Michael French shared, “I am proud of the team, and we will continue to improve”. The team’s star runners, Caden Felten and Jared Morton, were both injured for this meet.
Girls cross country finished second out of ten schools. The girls scored 35 on the meet, falling behind Churchill, who only scored only one point better. Two of the top three finishers were Barons. Ani Bailin, who continues to be an outstanding performer for B-CC, finished second with a time of 19:07, and Sophie Harjes was the third-place finisher, coming in just under 20 minutes.
On Oct. 2, B-CC faced Blair at Candy Cane City. Boys Cross-Country fell short, losing 31-24. Paolo Mantasas, Michael Habib, and Hicks all finished inside the top five.
On the other hand, the girls blew Blair out of the water, winning 46-16. Six of the top seven finishers were Barons. Again, Harjes finished at the top of each meet, as she placed first against Blair at 21:15.
B-CC Cross Country’s next meet is this Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Maryland XC Invitational at Shawan Downs.
