Girls Field Hockey fought valiantly against a tough conference opponent at Winston Churchill last Tuesday before falling 2-0 in a nail-biter. Churchill was able to squeak out the win, after a close game, and shut out the Barons for the first time this season.
They bounced back strong, beating Richard Montgomery convincingly last Thursday by a score of 6-1 and pushing their record to a strong 3 wins and 2 losses.
The Barons’ defense continues to be the highlight of their season so far. They have held every opponent to two goals or less. After Churchill shut them out, B-CC offense came to play, scoring early and often to push their lead to six.
Looking ahead, Girls Field Hockey are slated to play two games this week. Starting this Wednesday, Sept. 27th, they will travel to face B-CC’s cross-town rivals, Walt Whitman High School, and on Friday, Sept. 29th, they will travel away again to take on Thomas S. Wootton High School.
The Field Hockey team fell to both Whitman and Wootton last year, after narrow 2-1 losses in each game. They look to avenge their losses and aim to improve their record to 5-2 by the end of the week.
