In a dominant season opener, girl’s soccer avenges last year’s team with a stomping victory over Richard Montogomery. After B-CC was eliminated in the first round of playoffs last year by RM in a high-scoring game, this year’s defense showed massive improvement, shutting out Richard Montgomery 6-0 to start the year on a high note.
The Barons struck early with a fantastic goal from Senior Logan Tongberg in the early minutes of the game. This was just the start for Tongberg, who ended the game with a total of four goals. Junior goalie Frances Doyle was a wall in goal for the Barons as she recorded a shutout performance. Senior Sara Ullman and Sophomore Alina Rodriguez also contributed to the score column with a goal piece to propel B-CC to a victory on opening night at The Guck.
This was just the beginning for the Barons, as they followed the impressive victory against RM with an incredible win against Damascus with a score of 10-0. Tongberg contributed another hat trick and Doyle put up a lockdown performance with another shutout for the Barons.
With two great wins for B-CC, the Barons are looking to do damage this year. The Barons not only have the talent, but they have the experience throughout the entire team. With only two seniors leaving last year and all four captains being current seniors, the Barons have the leadership and ability to make a run deep into playoffs this year.
