Hey, You Can’t Park There!

On May 26, administrative officials announced via the PA system that no students are allowed to park in the senior student parking lot for the rest of the school year. The school uses a strike system to enforce this rule. If students park in the lot without a pass and are caught, they receive a strike on their windshield. If the student reaches three strikes, they are ticketed.

In past years, many juniors had taken advantage of seniors’ graduating to drive to school and park in the open spots, either using a pass obtained from a senior, a fake pass, or no pass at all. This year, however, the school is not letting that happen.

“I see no problems with students parking there, whether the administration issues temporary parking passes or what, but it’s not my decision to make,” said Mr. Snowden, an MCPS security article.

“Not everyone can get a neighborhood pass, and many people have to have longer commutes to school while also having to pay to park, so using those empty spots could be beneficial,” said junior Hannah Peters.
