The Army Continues their Quest Back to Loyola

The Girls Lacrosse team came back strong this week, going 2-1 in their last three games. The Army won big against Wheaton and Northwood, but narrowly lost in overtime to Quince Orchard.

Last Friday, the girls traveled to Northwood with built-up anger from their string of losses, and made sure to let it out, winning by 13 goals (14-1).

Back on their home turf on Tuesday, the Army kept the goals rolling against Wheaton. That game was an even bigger blowout than Northwood, with a final score of 16-1. Their team manager, Ellie Watkins, joked, “It felt like every minute I was tallying another goal [in the scorebook].”

On Thursday night, the Army took on Quince Orchard, a top team in Montgomery County, at the Guck for the team’s spirit night. The Barons were winning, 6-2, heading into halftime, but failed to keep the streak alive in the second half. Quince Orchard battled back in the second half, tying the game at 10-10, forcing overtime. The Barons were unable to capitalize in overtime and ended up losing 10-11.

With two games left in the season, the girls will try to end on a high note going into playoffs, where they look to defend the region and make it back to the state finals.
