Students Have Friday off for Eid
“I wish that MCPS would say that the days off were for the holiday, they do it a lot throughout the school year.”
Eid Al-Fitr will be celebrated from the evening of Thursday, April 20th, through the evening of Friday, the 21st. Despite the religious holiday, the official reason students are off from school on Friday the 21st is for a teacher development day.
Many B-CC Barons observe Ramadan and are looking forward to the feast during Eid. One senior, Elyas Laubach, said, “I wish that MCPS would say that the days off were for the holiday, they do it a lot throughout the school year,” adding, “I had a good experience this Ramadan, and now I look forward to celebrating with my family this Friday.”
This Muslim holiday commemorates the end of a month of fasting for Ramadan. Celebrating Eid or not, students of all religions will have Friday off.
