Girls’ Lacrosse: Difficult Games Playing Without the Full Roster
This Friday, the girls look to bounce back when they travel away to face the Northwood Gladiators.
Coming into the week with a strong 4-1 record, the girl’s lacrosse team had a week full of struggles. Starting the week against one of their rivals, Walter Johnson, the Barons lost a hard-fought game.
Cella Shanely had a strong performance, scoring four out of the five goals tallied by B-CC. Ultimately, the five goals weren’t enough to beat Walter Johnson and their high-powered offense, falling to a score of twelve to five.
One of the top scorers, senior Malia Adams, picked up two yellow cards, making her ineligible for the team’s next game against the Sherwood Warriors.
Suffering their second consecutive loss, the girls fell to another high-powered offense, the Warriors. The team’s scoring improved from their last game, including multiple goals from Cella Shanely and Catie Lucas, who both tallied two goals on the day.
The team also had to play this game without one of their starting defenders, junior Cassidy Carroll, due to injury.
Last year, during the regular season, before heading to the state championship, the girls lacrosse team lost to both WJ and Sherwood, too.
This Friday, the girls look to bounce back when they travel away to face the Northwood Gladiators. For this game, the girls get back Malia Adams, which not only could supply the team with more goals and bolden their offensive attack but could also boost team morale as they try to stay above a .500 winning percentage.
