B-CC Hockey Team Anticipates Playoffs

B-CC’s hockey team looks forward to their highly-anticipated matchup against Whitman tonight, aiming to begin their quest for another state championship.

Following a successful 8-3-1 season* that ended in a fourth-place finish in the Maryland Student Hockey League’s Montgomery County division, the team hopes to avenge their 2-1 loss to Whitman from last October.

Both teams’ seasons are on thin ice, with a trip to the state playoffs at stake. The loser will suffer a big rivalry loss and be forced to wait another year for this opportunity.

“We’re very excited to get revenge against Whitman. [Our] team has been getting better and better all season, and we are ready to make a deep run [in the playoffs],” says Matthew Duffy, a B-CC junior and center for the team.

After a state championship win two years ago, these Barons are hungry to get back on top, with many underclassmen players from the 2021 championship team leading the team now.

With all the turnout from previous games, the team hopes more fans will join them on Friday, February 10 at 8:00 p.m.
