The Downfall of D.C. Sports

It was just a couple of years ago when D.C was one of the top sports cities in the nation. The Nationals had just defeated the Houston Astros in seven games to win their first world series. The Capitals were contenders, a year removed from winning their first Stanley Cup. The Commanders made their first playoff appearance in half a decade and felt their organization was turning around under the leadership of Ron Rivera. As for the Wizards, they snuck into the playoffs as an eighth seed in the 2020-2021 season before getting sent home by the Philadelphia 76ers. Since that two-year window of success from 2018-2020, things have gone downhill fast. But why?
